  • Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

    Ronald Reagan

When the government's boot is on your throat, whether it is a left boot or a right boot is of no consequence.

We have a system that increasingly taxes and subsidizes nonwork.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money

    Alexis de Tocqueville

Those of us who manage the public dollars will be held to account to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day, because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and our government.

    Barack Hussein Obama, 1/20/09

My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.

    Barack Hussein Obama

“And the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history”

    Nancy Pelosi, Election Night 2006

Little Red Hen – Obama Style

“Who will help me plant my wheat?” asked the little red hen.

“Not  I,” said the cow.

“Not I,” said the duck.

“Not I,” said the pig.

“Not  I,” said the goose.

“Then I will do it by  myself,” She planted her crop, and the wheat grew and  ripened.

“Who will help me reap my wheat?” asked  the little red hen.

“Not I,” said the  duck..

“Out of my classification,” said the pig.

“I’d lose my seniority,” said the cow.

“I’d lose my unemployment compensation,” said the  goose.

“Then I will do it by myself,” said the  little red hen, and so she did.

“Who will help me bake the bread?” asked the little red hen.

“That would be overtime for me,” said the cow.

“I’d lose my welfare benefits,” said the duck.

“I’m a dropout and never learned how,”  said the pig.

“If I’m to be the only  helper, that’s discrimination,” said the goose.

“Then I will do it by myself,” said the little red hen.

She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, “No,  I shall eat all five loaves.”

“Excess  profits!” cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi)

“Capitalist leech!” screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer)

“I demand equal rights!” yelled the goose.  (Jesse Jackson)

The pig just grunted in  disdain. (Ted Kennedy)

And they all painted ‘Unfair!’ picket signs and marched around and around the  little red hen, shouting obscenities.

Then the farmer (Obama) came. He said to the little red hen, “You must not be so greedy.”

“But I earned the bread,” said the little red hen.

“Exactly,” said Barack the farmer. “That is what makes our  free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the  barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.”

And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, “I am grateful, for now I truly understand.”

But her neighbors became quite disappointed in  her. She never again baked bread because she joined the ‘party’ and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. ‘Fairness’ had been established.

Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed;  perhaps no one cared…so long as there was free bread  that ‘the rich’ were paying for.

Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for  his memoirs.
Hillary got $8 million for hers.
That’s $20 million for the memories from two  people, who for eight years repeatedly testified, under  oath, that they couldn’t remember anything.

How $335 Billion to prevent STD’s will stimulate the economy

The Queen has spoken.

Pelosi’s drunken spending spree (with our money)

Nancy Pelosi, Queen of the House of Representatives, has declared that spending hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on family planning services will boost the economy.

Her rationale?

“Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in        terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health,  education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs.  One of those – one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.”    Source

How many times in the past have Liberals hid behind “it’s for the children” when trying to get support for increased spending? And yet now the rationale for funding contraception and abortions is that it will cut government costs with less children to support?  Since when have Dems been concerned with cutting costs?

I bring this up not as a social commentary, but as a political commentary; the Democrats choose their rationales to fit their needs at the time, rather than consistently following their principles. Then again, in order to follow principles, you first have to have them.

In the coming weeks, we will be bombarded with excuses on why a certain addition is worthy of being included in the stimulus bill. So expect more such fiscal nonsense; the Dems in Congress are obviously drunk with power, and are on a spending spree. The last time that they were in a similar position of power was 1993, and look what happened with the 2004 elections.

As I’ve said before, give ’em enough rope, and they’ll hang themselves.

Yes, the next 2 years will be interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear a proposal from Pelosi in the not-too-distant-future announcing Federal funding of Botox for anyone over 50….

Obama’s First 100 Days

Here’s some scary stuff from Patrick J. Buchanan outlining what could happen during the first 100 days of an Obama administration.  That’s with a Pelosi-Reid led Congress, of course.  During the six years from 2001 until 2007 when the Republicans controlled both the White House and the Congress, spending was out of control, as was, and is, the soaring national debt.  That’s not even taking into account the war spending in Iraq and Afghanistan.  But, as Buchanan points out, it could get much worse in the years to come under an Obama administration.  Grab your ankles, indeed!
