  • Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

    Ronald Reagan

When the government's boot is on your throat, whether it is a left boot or a right boot is of no consequence.

We have a system that increasingly taxes and subsidizes nonwork.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money

    Alexis de Tocqueville

Those of us who manage the public dollars will be held to account to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day, because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and our government.

    Barack Hussein Obama, 1/20/09

My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.

Obama’s Ministry of Truth

One of the goals put forth by B. Hussein was to utilize the internet to communicate to the American People. We saw the unprecedented website of “The Office of the President Elect” , and a revamped White House website.  And since inauguration, it seems as though more and more .gov websites popping up out of nowhere.

And while I think it’s great to have government transparency in the form of information for the whole country to see, if that information is false, it does more much more harm than good. Such information in previous years would be call “propaganda”.

Well, Recovery.gov is one of those new websites, and The Heritage Foundation has a piece on their blog showing that the data is “completely made up” And in an Orwellian twist, the administration has “corrected” job numbers so that there is no discrepancy.  What next-the “Thought Police”?

Random Brain Flotsam

I watched President Obama’s first primetime press conference tonight.  He’s definitely better with a teleprompter than without.

The number of jobs to be saved or created by the economic “stimulus” bill has jumped from 3 million to 4 million.  The extra million jobs will be in Fantasyland!

Isn’t it amazing that in an 800-billion plus piece of legislation, there’s not a single earmark?  I love the way the earmarks have been renamed shovel-ready or ready-to-go projects.  Isn’t that a little bit like trying to slip some bacon past a rabbi?  Congress: “Rabbi, will you please bless this stimulus bill?”  Rabbi: “What’s that strapped to the back of your stimulus bill?  It looks like a giant slab of bacon.”  Congress: “Oh, no, Rabbi, that’s not bacon, it’s ready-to-go meat.”  Rabbi: “It looks like bacon.”

The mainstream media has had very light coverage of the White House takeover of the 2010 Census.  Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel will be the point man.  I wonder what the media coverage would be if Bush were still in office and he assigned Karl Rove to take charge of the Census?  Front page of the New York Times and Washington Post, probably.

The powers-that-be keep saying that we need to get this stimulus bill passed in order to keep this crisis from turning into catastrophe.  When the bill passes and the President signs it, how will we ever know what would have been?

Did President Obama specifically mention the State of Maine in his remarks tonight because of the support of Sen. Susan Collins and Sen. Olympia Snowe?  Or does Maine just happen to have the right population to make his point about the number of jobs lost?

Question: How much will those of us who have jobs have to pay to save Elkhart, Indiana?  Answer: Nothing.  The bill will be passed to our children and grandchildren.

The national debt, as of February 9, 2009 at 10:39 PM EST, stands at a little over 10.7 trillion dollars.  How high will it go?  When is enough enough?

Finally, this one’s not about politics – Baseball player Manny Ramirez was recently offered $25 million by the Los Angeles Dodgers for one season.  And he said no!!  OK, so he wanted a multi-year deal, but come on!  $25 million?!  For one year?!  Oh, well, anyone who’s a baseball fan knows that Manny’s always had a few screws loose anyway.

2 kinds of people

I just saw this on an internet forum:

There are two kinds of people in the Electorate:

1. People who remember how horrible the Jimmy Carter years were.

2. People who are about to find out.

I would normally put this under Humor, but it’s anything but. It’s reality.

Doorbells to stimulate the economy

$99,600 for doorbells included in the stimulus package for a housing program in Mississippi. What in HELL does that have to do with economic stimulus?

For other sickening examples of pork masquerading as “economic stimulus, check out stimuluswatch.org.

ReadTheStimulus.org is another site with vast amounts of information as well.

Change, but no hope

That’s right, the economy is a shambles, and the worst it’s been in 70 years. And if we don’t do so something now, it will mean economic disaster and collapse.

The end really ISN’T near, but that’s what BHO, the Democrat Party, and the MSM want us to believe.

And why not? How many people alive today lived through the Great Depression?  And unless you are 40 or older, it’s doubtful you remember (or were even around for) the Carter years. When people are fearful, they tend to have blind faith in a charismatic leader.

Yes, the spin machine is running at full tilt. And the brain-dead electorate and idealogues that believed the spiel on Hope and Change will only be getting change, but certainly not any hope.

Sure, GWB grew goverment in a way that makes conservatives cringe, but his tax cuts created prosperity which lasted until the housing bubble burst. And that wouldn’t have happened had not the Democrats strong-armed financial institutions into giving out bad loans. And GWB was positive, even in the darkest of times (remember 9/11?).

What is it that BHO offering us? He’s promising to put us in much more debt than ever, and offering up endless amounts of pessimism, as any good liberal does.

In light of this proposed unprecedented government spending, where are all those who lauded Clinton for balancing the budget, and who criticized Bush for increasing the deficit? Their silence is deafening.

The latest talking-point-to-be-jammed-down-the-public’s-throat is the fact that Wall Street gave out $18-20 billion in bonuses while taking tax dollars from TARP.  Definitely wrong, but peanuts, compared to the Pork Bill masquerading as an Economic Stimulus package. And if you don’t believe that this is a talking point, I googled “wall street bonus” while writing this, and Google news returned 2, 132 hits on just that phrase.

So for those who expect change, that you will get, and you will be paying for until you die. But if you’re looking for hope, you’ll have to wait until the next CONSERVATIVE takes office as POTUS.

Change but no hope:

Obama’s New Deal Is A Raw Deal

Let this short piece be a wake up call for those of you who think BHO’s “economic stimulus” is good for the country.
