  • Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

    Ronald Reagan

When the government's boot is on your throat, whether it is a left boot or a right boot is of no consequence.

    Gary Lloyd

We have a system that increasingly taxes and subsidizes nonwork.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money

    Alexis de Tocqueville

Those of us who manage the public dollars will be held to account to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day, because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and our government.

    Barack Hussein Obama, 1/20/09

My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.

    Barack Hussein Obama

“And the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open, and most ethical Congress in history”

    Nancy Pelosi, Election Night 2006

$2 Trillion “really isn’t a lot of money”

US Representative Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), recently graced us with his presence on the airwaves of Northeast PA by doing a “Radio Town Hall” on WILK.  Over the August recess, he has done 1 “Telephone Town Hall” in which his staff chose who asked questions, and this “Radio Town Hall”, and refuses to meet face-to-face with his constituents, as he just doesn’t have the time to do so.

In discussing the recent upward revision of the projected 10 year US budget deficit from $7 Trillion to $9 Trillion, he remarked that the $2 Trillion difference “really isn’t a lot of money…”.

And, with a distinct air of condescension reminiscent of Barney Frank’s recent Town Hall,  Mr. Kanjorski makes clear his disdain for those who speak out at Town Halls, referring to them as therapeutic shouting sessions.

For those not familiar with Mr. Kanjorski, he made news this past winter with his appearance on C-SPAN, telling us of a $550 Billion run on money market accounts.  He is also Chairman of the Capital Markets Subcommittee in the House.

With attitudes such as these, is it any WONDER why we are in the shape we’re in?

Stabenow and Big Beaver Road

A 21 year-old 9th grade drop out was recently sentenced to jail for prostitution in Michigan.

It’s been a long ride for the 21-year-old Alycia Martin, who is now eight months pregnant and engaged, said her pro bono attorney Frank Cusumano Jr. Martin, who dropped out of high school in the ninth grade and has been on her own since she was in her late teens, is working at a fast food restaurant, has a driver’s license and is working to get her GED. She also voted for the first time in November. But her gas and electric has been shut off and she struggles to buy necessities like food, clothing and baby supplies.

She is, Cusumano said, the most broke she’s ever been — but also the happiest, because she’s a contributing member of society and no longer involved in prostitution.

“My car breaks down every other day,” said Martin, shortly before she was led away by an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputy. “There’s nothing I can do. I can’t walk here. And I don’t have money for gas most of the time.”

And what is so noteworthy of this?

Well, she was busted for providing her “services” to none other than Tom Athans.

Mr. Athans is a former executive with AirAmerica, and co-founder of TalkRadio USA Network. But even MORE notable is the fact that he is married to SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW, D-MICHIGAN.

And while Ms. Martin is going to jail, Tom Athans, Stabenow’s husband since 2003, was not charged in exchange for his assistance in the case. In fact, this whole Big Beaver Road incident only cost him $150, while Ms Martin struggles to survive.

So the next time you hear about Stabenow trying to stifle free speech, think of this story; had it not been for Free Speech, this story would never have been seen or heard by the lowly minions that keep her in office. Just remember: you get what you vote for.

Hold on to your holsters-Eric Holder is in town

Those wild and crazy Dems and RINOs over in the Senate confirmed Eric Holder as Attorney General.  This includes Senator Gillibrand, the supposed “pro gun” Democrat who replaced Hillary.

But these politicians should be aware, as they more than likely have awakened a sleeping giant- American gun owners. Remember 1994?

From giving doctored statistics (“Every day that goes by, about 12, 13 more children in this country die from gun violence” – Holder’s statement includes teenaged gangsters who shoot each other, including teenaged adults), to advocating a one a month limit on handguns, Holder has proven his anti-2nd amendment stance.  And this is bound to raise some hackles.

Looking at this in a positive light, Holder’s confirmation will most certainly lead to  a political backlash that will exceed 1994, given the likelihood of his future actions against law-abiding gun owners.

So be on notice, Democrats and Bend Over Republicans, that there will be consequences to your confirmation vote. And that’s a promise.

Taxing Double Standard

How is it that those of us that work have to pay taxes, but others, particularly those in government, can choose when to pay (or not to pay unless nominated for something that requires vetting), and not be held legally liable?

Ed Whelan has an interesting piece over at The Corner regarding the 2nd tax cheat that BHO has nominated for a cabinet position (at least, 2 that we KNOW of).

Change, but no hope

That’s right, the economy is a shambles, and the worst it’s been in 70 years. And if we don’t do so something now, it will mean economic disaster and collapse.

The end really ISN’T near, but that’s what BHO, the Democrat Party, and the MSM want us to believe.

And why not? How many people alive today lived through the Great Depression?  And unless you are 40 or older, it’s doubtful you remember (or were even around for) the Carter years. When people are fearful, they tend to have blind faith in a charismatic leader.

Yes, the spin machine is running at full tilt. And the brain-dead electorate and idealogues that believed the spiel on Hope and Change will only be getting change, but certainly not any hope.

Sure, GWB grew goverment in a way that makes conservatives cringe, but his tax cuts created prosperity which lasted until the housing bubble burst. And that wouldn’t have happened had not the Democrats strong-armed financial institutions into giving out bad loans. And GWB was positive, even in the darkest of times (remember 9/11?).

What is it that BHO offering us? He’s promising to put us in much more debt than ever, and offering up endless amounts of pessimism, as any good liberal does.

In light of this proposed unprecedented government spending, where are all those who lauded Clinton for balancing the budget, and who criticized Bush for increasing the deficit? Their silence is deafening.

The latest talking-point-to-be-jammed-down-the-public’s-throat is the fact that Wall Street gave out $18-20 billion in bonuses while taking tax dollars from TARP.  Definitely wrong, but peanuts, compared to the Pork Bill masquerading as an Economic Stimulus package. And if you don’t believe that this is a talking point, I googled “wall street bonus” while writing this, and Google news returned 2, 132 hits on just that phrase.

So for those who expect change, that you will get, and you will be paying for until you die. But if you’re looking for hope, you’ll have to wait until the next CONSERVATIVE takes office as POTUS.

Obama’s New Deal Is A Raw Deal

Let this short piece be a wake up call for those of you who think BHO’s “economic stimulus” is good for the country.
