Please Don’t Drink The Kool-aid

The election is now a part of the history books, and Barack Obama will soon take  the oath of office and become President. And apparently, the political Kool-aid was free flowing during the run up to the election.

As reported on a new website, How Obama Got Elected, a Zogby poll of Obama voters shows the following:

512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points

97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates

Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

71.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet…..

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we “gave” one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

Granted, McCain was a poor candidate, but given the fact that the media was overwhelmingly pro-Obama, along with the promises of tax cuts, continued Second Amendment rights, his anti-war stance (although he plans to increase US presence in Afghanistan), and other things that the electorate wanted to hear, Barack Obama prevailed, and will soon be POTUS.

But be ever-vigilant. It’s become clear that the smoke-and-mirrors have continued to be deployed; things are not as they seem, and it’s easy to be taken in.

Take for instance the new website of the Office of the President-elect. Initially, the site went up within days of the election. It appeared that material from his campaign site was shifted to Change.gov. However,  it wasn’t long before agenda items suddenly disappeared. Fortunately, there is documentation of at least 2 agenda items which are documented on the internet: “A 21st Century Military For America” and the Economy portion of his agenda. It’s  not hard to read the writing on the wall.

And yet I’m sure that if you asked, many people believe Obama to be moderate in his views, and have confidence that he truly WILL change the way government is run.  Yes, despite the rapidly-declining economy, birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and there is hope in the air; Barack Hussein Obama will turn everything around and life will once again be wonderful.

We shall soon see how wonderful life will be once BHO takes office, along with a Democrat-controlled Congress. But if you continue to or start to drink the Kool-aid, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself..
